LONDON: Following an outstanding stint at Getafe, La Liga president Javier Tebas hopes to see Mason Greenwood, a striker on loan from Manchester United, stay longer in Spain.

The 22 Year-old joined Getafe in September, and even though all criminal charges against him were dropped after he was accused of assault and attempted rape, which he denied, United claimed they didn't want him to cause trouble.

Jim Ratcliffe, United's new co-owner, hinted last week that the team may reevaluate Greenwood's circumstances, but Tebas is eager to see the midfielder stay in La Liga.

The BBC cited Tebas as adding, "I am a lawyer," following his remarks at the Financial Times Business of Football Conference.

"There is nothing further to say if someone emerged from a court case innocent. As a player, he is excelling, and I hope he sticks with Spanish football.

"That is good for us."

Tebas said, under pressure: "You ought to honor the legal system. Even though the media is criticizing him, you still need to accept the court's ruling."

In 25 games across all competitions for Getafe this season, Greenwood has seven goals.
