SINGAPORE: Following a collision between two pleasure craft off Pulau Hantu, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) reported on Saturday, March 2, that an ongoing search is underway for a person who fell overboard.

In a statement, MPA stated that the collision happened on Saturday at around 1:30 p.m.

There were five people who had gone overboard. One passenger is still missing, while the other four have been safely rescued, according to the authority.

"MPA has deployed patrol craft to the area and is coordinating search efforts with assets from the Police Coast Guard and the Singapore Civil Defence Force."

Additionally, MPA is encouraging nearby vessels to keep an eye out for anyone in the water by use of navigational bulletins.

Situated south of the Singaporean mainland, Pulau Hantu is close to Pulau Bukom.

A pleasure craft is defined by MPA as one that is designed solely for recreational or sporting use within Singapore's port waters.
