SINGAPORE: According to police, on Sunday, April 28, fourteen people have been taken into custody for allegedly participating in vice-related activities.

Police operations on hotels and residential buildings around Bras Basah Road, Havelock Road, Shanghai Road, and Orchard Road resulted in the capture of the suspects, who ranged in age from 22 to 59.

Between April 24 and 25, a total of approximately S$40,000 (US$29,360) in cash, along with various items related to vice, were taken during the operation.

A 59 Year-old man is expected to be charged in court on Monday for his alleged role in knowing to receive any form of remuneration for providing services that will assist in the prostitution of another person. The man allegedly helped an online vice syndicate operate.

According to the authorities, investigations into the 13 ladies and the vice syndicate are still underway.

The police further stated that they will keep up their strict enforcement measures against individuals engaged in syndicated vice operations.

A prison sentence of up to seven years and a fine of up to S$100,000 await those found guilty of knowingly soliciting, accepting, or agreeing to receive any gratification as an inducement or reward for providing any service, and who, by doing so, aid in the prostitution of another person, who is a woman or girl.

Anyone using a remote communication service with a Singapore link that offers or facilitates a woman or girl in Singapore providing sexual services in exchange for money or other rewards, whether they are inside or outside of Singapore, runs the risk of paying a fine of up to S$100,000, spending up to five years in jail, or both.
