SYDNEY: A month after a Sydney court declared Australia international Kurtley Beale not guilty of rape, Beale made his comeback to the pitch in Brisbane on Saturday, marking his first game in almost 14 months.

Following his arrest in December 2022, Beale was prohibited from all rugby activities. Additionally, the case prevented him from representing the Wallabies in the fourth World Cup in France last year.

The 35-year-old was playing against Brothers on Saturday in the yearly match between the club champions of Sydney and Brisbane while wearing the green jersey of Randwick, as his contract with the New South Wales Waratahs ended during his suspension.

Even though Randwick lost 25–18 at Crosby Park, Beale looked well and demonstrated his talent throughout the hour he spent playing at flyhalf versus Queensland Reds pivot Lawson Creighton.

Beale, a teenage sensation who was identified early on as a potential Wallabies flyhalf, has played in 95 Test matches for Australia across a variety of positions since making his debut in 2009.

In an interview conducted last week, he expressed his desire to continue representing his nation and his goal of becoming the first Australian of Indigenous descent to earn 100 Wallabies caps.
