Japan's Socionext, Dicso to be added to Nikkei index
TOKYO: The Nikkei share average will include Japan's chip-related Socionext and Disco next month as part of a routine reorganization of the benchmark index, the stock average's publisher announced on Monday.
According to the Nikkei, those chip stocks will take the position of Takara Holdings, Pacific Metals, and Sumitomo Osaka Cement.
On Monday, the Nikkei 225 achieved a record high and broke through the 40,000 barrier for the first time, posting a 19% gain for the year. Stocks related to chips, such Tokyo Electron and Advantest, were the key drivers of the rise.
Disco and Socionext both increased by 45% and 55% annually, respectively, outpacing the Nikkei's gains.
ZOZO, an online clothes store, will also be included in the benchmark.
